Diva Weekly Challenge #305 - Duotangle with Marasu and Molygon

I missed this challenge last week...Molygon and Marasu duotangle.  I am working on shading techniques.  Can be a challenge with such a small scale.  Looking for depth and roll on the Marasu. I remembered to take a before photo after I had shaded a little bit.

Diva Weekly Challenge #306 - Amphora

Amphora by Lily Moon is the Diva weekly challenge.  I did it in my sketch book because I didn't think I was going to like it, but I am very pleased with the outcome.  I have been having fun exploring the shading techniques in Eni Oken's 3D Tangle: Shading Fearlessly.  The two photographs are the same tile just photographed in different lights.  Neither of them are quite right.  The top one looks yellow and the bottom looks washed out.  Any suggestions?

Square One: Purely Zentangle Weekly ONE - Yew Dee and Por Fin

This tile combines the last two weekly ONE's, Yew Dee and Por Fin.  I struggled to make a tile I was happy with using Yew Dee, but after reading Eni Oken's ebook on shading, (which can be found here:  https://enioken.com/) I like the 3D quality that can be created with this pattern.  You will also see a little Diva Dance and Daggerly sneaking in from the bottom corners.

Diva Weekly Challenge #304 - Waybop

Diva challenge #304 is Waybop.  I did a geometrically inspired variation...kind of reminds me of spirograph.  The background is a variation of a fun tangle I saw on Pinterest by JJ La Barbera called Shimono.

Diva Weekly Challenge #302 - Hamadox

This week's challenge is Hamadox.  I drew 3 different variations of Hamadox with Neuron in the background.  I tried using a new sketch book of very smooth paper for pens.  The way the pen glided across the paper was soothing.  Shading is not as successful since the paper has no tooth, but it is fun to try different surfaces.

Here it is before shading and extensions of Neuron outside the border.

Diva Weekly Challenge #301 - Diva Dance and Paradox

This week's challenge was a DuoTangle of Diva Dance and Paradox.  This was my first try at Diva Dance and I enjoy the versatility of the three variations, Waltz, Foxtrot and Rock 'n Roll.  I don't particularly like the composition I ended up with.  I drew a string and then just worked the patterns within the string I had created.  It feels somewhat random to me, but it was relaxing to draw because I didn't do too much thinking as I went.

There is a trade off for me between the ease of just tangling without planning or composing and the end result being something I think is visually pleasing or interesting.

Renaissance Orbs-la-Dee

I wanted to try and use strong shading on this Renaissance tile.  I used two color brown Micron pens with two brown and one white Pitt soft pastel pencils for the shading.  I like the diamond orientation better, now that it is finished.
